When do I pay?

An initial payment of 20% is required at the time of reservation pending our phone call to you to confirm your rental. Once confirmed, the remaining 80% will be collected at the end of the call. Reservations that cannot be confirmed by phone within 48 hours of booking are subject to cancellation at Better Boating’s discretion.

Who has to be present to pickup the boat?
The person who booked the rental and paid for the boat and is the financially responsible party MUST be on site for pickup and checkout of the vessel. The driver's license presented at time of pickup must match the credit card and booking information that was submitted at time of booking. Additional boat drivers with valid IDs should be added during our confirmation phone call rather than at the dock in order to expedite departure and maximize your time on the water.

Do you require a damage deposit?

POWER BOATS:  We do not collect a damage deposit, but a major CREDIT CARD is required for pre-authorization of $1000 36 to 48 hours in advance of your outing. No charges will be applied to the credit card unless equipment is lost or damaged during your outing.
PADDLE SPORTS:  We do not collect a damage deposit, but we do require an imprint of your credit card in advance of your outing. No charges will be applied to the credit card unless equipment is lost or damaged during your outing.

How old do you have to be to rent?

POWER BOATS:  You must be 25 Years of age to rent a boat (Picture ID required)
PADDLE SPORTS:  You must be 18 years of age to rent a kayak or board. Photo ID is required. Participants ages 13 to 17 must have a parent or legal guardian to rent and sign all applicable paperwork. Participants ages 8 to 12 must be supervised at all times by the parent or legal guardian who rented the equipment.

What is your cancellation policy?

POWER BOATS:  Reservations cancelled more than 14 days in advance of reservation date will result in a $35 cancellation fee. Reservations cancelled 7 to 13 days in advance of reservation date will result in a 50% cancellation fee. Reservations cancelled less than 7 days in advance of reservation date will result in a 100% cancellation fee. You can cancel your reservation by phone or online using our reservation system.
PADDLE SPORTS:  Cancellations must be made 5 days in advance of your reservation date. If you do not do so, we cannot refund your rental, as the equipment was then unavailable for others to rent and enjoy. Please contact Better Boating by phone if you need to cancel your Paddle Sports reservation.

What about inclement weather?

Rentals may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement or impending bad weather but solely at the discretion of Better Boating staff on site. NO decisions regarding inclement weather will be made UNTIL the morning of the rental, and these decisions do NOT obligate Better Boating to cancel this agreement. Should Better Boating staff ground boats for the outing period, then rain dates will be issued for up to one year from the original booking date. Rain date decisions are solely at the discretion of Better Boating. Failure of a Customer to appear for their rental will result in charges equivalent to the full rental rate. NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN FOR ANY REASON.

• Full Days: 9:00 - 5:00, 9:30 – 5:30, & 10:00 – 6:00
• Half Days: 9:00 - 1:00 or 2:00 - 6:00 (weekdays only)

*Off-Season (October - March):

• Full Days:  10:00 - 5:00
• Half Days: 10:00 - 2:00, 11:00 - 3:00, or 12:00 - 4:00

*Reservations are strongly recommended!  Walk-ins should expect a minimum of an hour for booking and proper preparation of your boat for departure.

 PADDLE SPORTS Outings Periods
*In-Season (April – September):

• Available for pickup every ½ hour between 10:30 & 3:30
• All paddle sports must be returned before 6:00 pm.

*OFF-SEASON (October - March):

• Available for pickup every ½ hour between 10:30 & 2:30.
• All paddle sports must be returned before 5:00 pm.

*Reservations are recommended. Walk-in traffic is welcome but will be accommodated based on availability.
